In the Transylvanian countryside, a team of young architects and engineers battle to save one of Romania’s most historic churches from ruin.

The church of the Archangel Michael, in Gurasada, dates from the 13th century. Inside are some of the oldest murals in Romania. But today, the murals are under threat from leaks and holes in the church’s wooden roof. Join us as we follow Cezara Matei, a volunteer, as she helps to surround Gurasada Church with scaffolding and learns how to replace the ancient building’s oak roof tiles by hand.
