Ewhurst Green model railway hosts a selection of visiting locomotives that would have operated on British Railways' Eastern Region in the nineteen-sixties. Quite often the visiting stock is not revealed until the day, although on this occasion a 'heads-up' was given.

Nicknamed 'Muck Ducks', these 4F locomotives were built by BR at the former L&Y works at Horwich and operated onto Eastern metals. Originally based at Saltley, 43047 moved to Wellingborough thence Heaton Mersey before withdrawn from Workington in 1967. It hauls empty petroleum and oil tanks destined for Hoo Junction.

By the nineteen-fifties A4 Pacific 60021 'Wild Swan' spend much of its life based at King's Cross but at the time of its withdrawal on 20th October 1963 had been relegated to lessor duties from New England depot. It hauls a class 1 passenger service formed of Mk1 stock.

D8400 (later class 16 under TOPS) spent all of is short working life based at Stratford depot. Into service 30th May 1958 in Green livery with its forward facing windows surrounds painted light green it received full yellow ends January 1968 before withdrawal 7th July 1968. It hauls an unfitted freight service.

D5085 (later class 24 under TOPS) was a Midland-allocated locomotive although the class regularly ran onto Eastern metals. Entering service 20th August 1960 in Green livery with a narrow white band around the bottom of the bodywork, D5085 received a full-yellow end by May 1971. Under TOPS it was renumbered 24 085 in May 1974 and was withdrawn 17th July 1976. To be absolutely correct D5085 was not one of the five class 24 locomotives that carried two-tone green (nor did it carry a yellow warning panel). It hauls a parcels train from the Southern Region.

D8229 (later class 15 under TOPS) was variously allocated to Norwich, March, Stratford, Ipswich, Finsbury Park, Stratford, Ipswich and finally Stratford where it received its full-yellow end by June 1969. It was withdrawn 27th March 1971. It hauls a local service formed of Mk1 stock.

Ewhurst Green is a fictional BR(S) 4mm=1' scale model railway which has its basis on several planned (but never built) railway schemes in Surrey (from Dorking) that may have served the villages of Ewhurst and Ewhurst Green (as a junction for Cranleigh and Guildford) on its route down through Midhurst to conceivable join the railway from Brighton along the coast of Southern England near to Havant, thence onto Portsmouth and Southampton.
