This morning I heard the most heartbreaking sound coming from under my porch... I thought it was a cat at first, but when I looked closer, I found a tiny bear cub all alone, crying and shaking. He couldn't have been more than a few weeks old.
I immediately knew something was terribly wrong. Mama bears NEVER leave their cubs unless something bad has happened. I wanted so badly to help, but I knew touching him could make things worse. So I did the only thing I could do - I called wildlife rescue.
What happened next was an emotional rollerover. The rescue team confirmed he was orphaned and showing signs of dehydration. Seeing him up close, he was even tinier than I thought - only 4-5 pounds with his eyes barely open.
The good news? He's now safe at a rehabilitation center that specializes in raising orphaned bear cubs. If he's healthy enough, they'll eventually release him back into the wild when he's old enough to survive on his own.
I'll be posting updates on his recovery. We found him just in time. 🙏
