In Episode 1 we talked about the 3 pillars of success in business development; Be outstanding at what you do, build your profile and create and cultivate meaningful relationships.
Perhaps not surprisingly, one of the characteristics that will drive your success under all three pillars is curiosity.
Most lawyers have curiosity wired into them, but even if you don’t, it’s something you CAN and SHOULD cultivate.
Curiosity will drive your desire to learn and advance your skills and legal knowledge.
It will give you ideas and topics that you can use in media, social media, speaking and writing engagements, helping you to build your profile as someone who is engaged and knowledgeable.
It will drive you to stay current with trends and information relevant to your clients and the people in your network and give you things to talk about that will be interesting to THEM which will help you grow those relationships.
My challenge to you is this: cultivate and indulge your curiosity; listen to the people around you, read and pursue information, ask questions. Doing these things will fuel your success and it will ignite your passion and the joy you find in the practice.
