The original rock opera "Gods of the Hills" by Peter N. Schmeeckle is narrated by the infamous American hero and traitor Benedict Arnold. Arnold tells the story of Ethan Allen and the birth of Vermont, having crossed paths with Allen and even shared command at Ticonderoga for a brief moment. The epic "Bigger and Better Things" shows up toward the middle of the second act, after Ethan has failed at taking Montreal and Benedict has failed at Quebec. Benedict Arnold takes center stage in this number and tries to steal the show; he's no mere narrator. We root for him, as he has not yet met Peggy Shippen and turned coat. The opera ends without addressing the treachery of his later actions, it's on to bigger and better things!
