Curtis Hasselbring and his Curhachestra: a belated Album release show for Curha II with Raphael McGregor - lap steel guitar / Adam Minkoff - electric bass / Dan Rieser - drums and Curtis Hasselbring - trombone, guitar, other possible noisemakers
Curtis Hasselbring’s trombone and guitar playing has been witnessed repeatedly on the stage at Barbes over the last 19 years. In addition to appearing with everybody from Slavic Soul Party to Stephen Ulrich, Curtis is also known for composing unique pieces that embody his love for rock, jazz, surf, electronic, Latin and film music. Much of his output has been released either with his jazz quartet, the New Mellow Edwards, or his solo electronic/home recording based project under the name “Curha”.
The band for this show is a quartet of Curtis on trombone/guitar/lo-fi samples, Raphael McGregor (lap steel player with Brain Cloud and Nation Beat), Adam Minkoff (bassist/multi-instrumentalist with Dweezil Zappa and Amy Helm) and Dan Rieser (drummer with Rosanne Cash and Norah Jones)

Curtis’s music “suggests rough and rocking reflections on film music (Mancini and Hermann), Mothers of Invention and the Art Ensemble of Chicago.” The NY Times.
