As we step into 2026, I’m asking for your help with something deeply urgent and incredibly important.

I am currently working with a human trafficking survivor who was convicted of a crime committed by her trafficker. She has already spent over five years incarcerated for something she did not do, and she is now up for parole THIS MONTH in January 2026.

To give her a real chance at freedom, she urgently needs a criminal defense attorney to prepare a proper parole packet and stand with her at her TDCJ parole hearing. We are trying to raise $2,500 to make that happen. Every single dollar matters.

This survivor had a powerful advocate in Sgt. John Wall (HPD), who led the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance (HTRA) for the Southern District of Texas. He believed in her. He was our best ally! Tragically, he passed away before her trial, and the system afterward failed her.

I was present at her trial. I testified. No officers or Advocate were even allowed to testify her behalf in court that day. I stood beside homicide detectives, advocates, domestic violence counselors, trafficking shelter staff, and survivor leaders who all fought for justice. Despite that, she was still convicted and was never given her voice back.

Now is our moment to help set this right.

She already has a fully developed plan to start a nonprofit to help other trafficking victims. She is strong, driven, and ready to be a game-changer, but she cannot do that from behind prison walls.
