Impact Racing Game Sample - Sega Saturn

Описание к видео Impact Racing Game Sample - Sega Saturn

Impact Racing is a somewhat fun and repetitive cross between a shooter and arcade-style racer, developed by Funcom and published by Acclaim for Playstation and Sega Saturn in 1996; it's also relatively uncommon in terms of rarity. The game is very simple - you have to go from stage to stage, destroying everything that moves to refill weapons, restore your armor, regain time, and get enough kills to enter bonus rounds for a chance to add new types of weapons to your arsenal (which become almost vital for later levels). Laps in the game don't really serve much purpose other than to give you more time to accumulate kills before finishing a stage (as their is no "place" or "rank" like in a traditional racer).

You can choose from a few different cars and then hit the stages. You can attack enemies with lazers, mines, missiles, and more, and as you drive, enemies become more aggressive, more powerful, more intelligent, all while stages become more complex to navigate and time limits become more strict. The graphics are crisp and there's a nice sense of speed, though there is quite a bit of pop-up and clipping (nothing that makes the game unplayable). The audio is of decent quality, though the music itself is rather forgettable. Generally speaking, cars handle very well and as they should and the game is not frustrating to play in this regard. It's fun to try different tactics (between using different weapons to decelerating to peg enemies at certain junctions) to get the highest score and the game is relatively easy to just pick up and play, though it is a little pointless.

This is a video of the game in action. Enjoy.
