It has become a nightmare owning a condo in South Florida and for much of the State of Florida. Much of this problem occurs though in South Florida, where there are tall buildings that are up for their 50 yr. recertification. The building I live in is being now affected by higher building insurance premiums, needing a contractor and assessment for the 50 yr. recertification work, as well as now needing to meet the new reserve requirements since the catastrophe that occurred with the Surfside Building Collapse. All of this has made for a situation where our HOA amount on our apartments are basically tripling. With the soaring HOA apartment fees going up on apartments, many of us are now considering moving.
