For Amy was filmed circa 1979 in black and white as well as color Super 8 film. This was the fourth project for my Cinema 280 course at USC Cinema. The featured actors were fellow students. The brilliant Bruce Akiyama (who definitely made the most beautiful and striking film among all of ours in the course) and the gracious and highly admired Karen Vice. This one was quite well received by both the class and the professors. And I also like it for its simplicity in getting across the story narrative. The music, naturally, is taken from Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto number 5 in A Minor (which is not a copyright strike as I used a publicly accessible and free to use version but apparently still has a 'copyright owner' to collect on any monetization that might occur). And the pop at the beginning is from the film getting caught up in the projector when I first went to digitize it. I don't have a proper editor any longer and when I went to splice the film back together, a small section came out upside down and backwards. It ends up working somehow with the opening crescendo. So, I left it as is. And the film still works as it was intended. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
