The word ‘Devadasi’ literally means ‘Servant of God’ largely referring to a female, who was dedicated to the worship and service of a deity or a temple for the rest of her life.
However, During the colonial period, the devadasi system took an ugly form of exploitation of women. In this video, we have tried to comprehensively cover all the aspects of the devadasi system from the government exam perspective & for general awareness.
