Now before we go deeper into the the company, lets talk about the man that started it all. Born in Leonberg, Germany, in 1960, Uwe's fascination with cars began at an early age. He started his career as a mechanic, working for various Porsche dealerships, where he learned the ins and outs of Porsche engines. Then In 1981, he used the knowledge he learned to start Gemballa in Stuttgart, Germany, with a vision to create the world's most powerful and exclusive sports cars. His first project was a modified Porsche 930 Turbo, which he dubbed the "Avalanche." Now this 930 Turbo was something special. The outside on these cars go a complete make over, as for the engine RUF, the renowned performance tuner was given the task of mechanical upgrades, including a dual-exhaust system, power output upgrade to 375 horsepower, and a five-speed "dog-leg" manual transmission. Now these changes weren’t exactly cheap. In 1985 the Avalanche debuted with a price tag of 390,000 Deutsche Marks, or about $700,000. With its aggressive styling, wide body kit, and upgraded engine, the Avalanche quickly became a sensation in the tuning world.
Now Over the years, Gemballa continued to produce some of the most sought-after and exclusive sports cars in the world. Gemballa's designs were characterized by their sleek lines, aggressive styling, and state-of-the-art technology.
Gemballa's cars were often powered by Porsche engines, which Gemballa upgraded to produce even more power.
