Welcome to Standard Gauge Action, Episode 8!
In this episode, we see the AK cars making their way to Adelaide from Darwin, as well as a couple of the usual intermodals that run on the Adelaide - Port Augusta line.
The first train is AK82, which is an AK car movement from Darwin to Adelaide.
The AK cars is a set of ex-NSWGR carriages owned by ARTC, the owner of most interstate mainline in Australia. These carriages have been converted for use as track inspection cars and they make their way around the network every few months. PN Currently has a hook and pull for the western half of the ARTC network, including the lines from Adelaide to Kalgoorlie and Darwin.
This particular train was filmed on the 19th of July, 2020 at Edinburgh Road, Edinburgh. Pacific National locomotive NR66 was used. A few months later, it was repainted into “Real Trains not Road Trains” livery.
The next train is Pacific National Melbourne to Perth intermodal 7MP5 at Heaslip Road, Edinburgh with NR38 and NR75 (Ghan MkII livery). This train and the next one was filmed on the 19th of March, 2020.
The last train is One Rail Australia Darwin to Adelaide intermodal 6DA2, with GWA010 and ALF19 at Bagster Road, Salisbury North.
