The Problem With Zillow’s Zestimates

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about Zillow’s Zestimates lately. Today I want to explain what a Zestimate is and why you shouldn’t rely on one exclusively to determine your home’s value if you’re selling it or refinancing. Zillow claims their Zestimates have an average margin of error of 4.3%, but I’ve seen that margin stretch as high as 30%...on my own house. The reason for this is there are certain limitations to the home value algorithm Zillow uses.
