6 Cheap Family-Friendly Space Coast Musts! Visit the space coast with kids and check out these family friendly activities.

Are you traveling to the space coast with children and looking for free, and affordable things to do? Freedom Champagne has you covered!

We explored the space coast by checking out different affordable family friendly activities!

Yes, you can check out the Kennedy Space Center museum and other attractions that cost a lot of money. But, we opted to explore the space coast as affordable as possible by checking out these 5 places:

1. Explore Cape Canaveral

From our campground, we took a 15-minute drive to explore cape Canaveral. It’s free to park near any of the restaurants right on the dock. See the big cruise ships from up close. Our 2-year-old, liked seeing the cruise ships. We ate at one of the restaurants and sat right on the top deck. We had amazing views of the harbour and would highly recommend checking out for any family traveling around the space coast. There is also a local fish market but sadly it’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

2. Visit the famous Cocoa beach.

We asked a local friend where the locals park when they go to the beach. As I wanted to avoid having to pay for parking in Cocoa beach. Park at Cherie Down Park for quick access to the beach.

3. Manatee Sanctuary Park
There's a really nice boardwalk to walk alongside. There are plenty of different bird species, and we even saw turtles. Lucia, our 2-year-old toddler, really liked this park. She enjoyed interacting with the animals, running around, and then playing on the play structure. We recommend families travelling with children bring them here to burn energy and have fun seeing what Florida parks have to offer!

4. Sebastien Inlet State Park

This activity is not free, but for 8$ per car, it’s definitely an affordable family friendly activity! There was absolutely no one there when we first got there. The beach was immense, and so were the waves. We didn’t go in fully but got our toes wet. Visit the beach by going through the restaurant and changing rooms. There is a wood boardwalk that leads right to the beach. Then, we went over to the other side, the shallow beach area, where we saw several species of birds and dolphins swimming! Then, we got back into our cars and crossed the bridge. There, we found a lot of fishermen, boats, birds and the campground. This is an awesome campground if you can get a spot to camp. However, being on the coast like that, I would think that it’s chilly in the evening. If you can score a campground here, it’s totally worth it as the cost is only $20 in Florida state parks per night.

5. Drive through Cocoa Beach
If you don’t have too much time, or the weather isn’t the greatest, we recommend just driving through Cocoa beach. On our way back from the Sebastien Inlet state park, Google maps suggested that we take the highway back through the mainland, but we stayed on the peninsula, and were really happy we did!

6. Chain of Lakes Park
Visit the chains of lakes parks to see wildlife for free! In Florida, countless tourist attractions claim to see the "real" Florida. Most of these places charge like $50, per adult. But from our experience, we learned that you can totally see “real” Florida by visiting the state and municipal parks. We enjoyed a 45-minute walk in this park with our family, where we saw birds and 5 gators! There is an excellent observation tower to climb, and several bridges to walk over. For things to do in Titusville, I’d recommend bringing your family to the chain of lakes park on the space coast. There was also a playground for the kids here and lots of baseball diamonds.
