Описание к видео The Fisherman. Charles Bukowski. Daily life in brillance.

In The Fisherman, Bukowski in his plain spoken, storytelling way describes the usual, ordinary day of a fisherman. https://resources.eltbuzz.com/1JNB He echoes the existential delight and horrors we all have inside. How we make compromises with life, settle and find a groove. Even with our wives.

Enjoy. Discuss. What does it suggest, mean to you?

The Poet
Charles Bukowski (1920–1994) was a German-American poet, novelist, and short-story writer known for his raw, gritty, and often darkly humorous depictions of urban life, alcoholism, and the struggles of the working class.

Born Heinrich Karl Bukowski in Andernach, Germany, he moved to Los Angeles as a child. After a difficult upbringing and a series of menial jobs, he began writing in his early twenties, gaining recognition in the 1960s through underground literary magazines. His work—influenced by his own hard-living experiences—rejected pretension, embracing instead a direct, unfiltered style.

Bukowski’s prolific output includes poetry collections like Love is a Dog from Hell (1977) and The Last Night of the Earth Poems (1992), as well as semi-autobiographical novels such as Post Office (1971) and Ham on Rye (1982). A cult figure in counterculture literature, he remains celebrated for his unflinching honesty and outsider perspective.

Bukowski died in 1994 in San Pedro, California, shortly after completing his final novel, Pulp. His legacy endures as a voice of the disenfranchised and a rebel against literary and societal norms.
