There are many birds I want to film. Redwings and Fieldfares members of the thrush family are just two of those birds. They fly in for the winter to avoid the extreme cold of Eastern Europe and Scandanavia. They have a distinctive call and if you are out and about late in November you can often hear flocks flying overhead. Unfortuanately they are often difficult to film. This is because because flocks that fly in are localised and you often go through a winter without coming across them. I haven't seen redwings for many years now. I have seen fieldfares. The two birds are usually found together.
Yesterday morning I stumbled across around 30 redwing feeding off the Gransha road just outside Dundonald. It was a cold wet windy morning. The birds typically did not waant to be filmed close up. They were very wary and skitterish. they kept their distance. To get any film my only option was to film them over a long distance. This unfortuantely means there is a lot of camera shake. I know the film is very poor but as this is my first and only film of redwings I am uploading it anyway.
