In the Season 2 segment “Imitation Krabs,” Plankton builds a robotic version of Mr. Krabs to sneak into the Krusty Krab and get the Krabby Patty secret formula, offering SpongeBob a million dollars for it—but SpongeBob insists the formula can only be shared with the real Mr. Krabs. Plankton’s first disguise fails, so he returns as Robot Krabs and even bribes Squidward for silence. After distracting the real Mr. Krabs with a rolling penny, the robot tries to coax SpongeBob into revealing the formula, but SpongeBob makes him do a ludicrous secret handshake ritual that takes hours. Eventually SpongeBob gives Robot Krabs a quiz to decide who is real, only to mistakenly choose the robot. When SpongeBob drops a penny into its coin-operated self-destruct slot, the robot explodes and Plankton’s plan ends in disaster, and SpongeBob rescues the real Mr. Krabs.
