🚨 Repeat Fleeing Suspect Crashes After High‑Speed Pursuit — St. Joseph, Missouri (Feb. 11, 2025)

St. Joseph officers encountered a gold 2011 Chevy Impala—a vehicle known for multiple prior police evasions over several weeks. At 3:06 AM, officers attempted a stop after recognizing the car from a previous fleeing incident. The driver immediately accelerated to 90+ mph on the Belt Highway, forcing officers to terminate due to dangerous speeds.

Later that night at 10:11 PM, the same Impala was spotted again. Officers followed without lights to avoid triggering another flight, but the driver—identified as Zayne Walters—failed to yield during a left turn and took off at high speed. Because of the fresh snow and slick road conditions, the pursuit was once again terminated.

The vehicle was spotted again shortly afterwards, resulting in a small collision between the suspect's vehicle and Officer Rivera-Lugo’s patrol car. Officers activated lights and sirens as the Impala blew through stop signs and red lights, reaching 65–90 mph through residential neighborhoods. The chase ended when the patrol car impacted the Impala as it was braking. Walters lost control at S 28th St & Pear St, colliding with a Dodge Nitro and flipping the Impala onto its side.

Officers extracted Walters and passenger Kierstin from the overturned vehicle. Walters admitted there was “dope” inside the car. A search revealed methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, scales, pipes, and multiple credit/debit cards. Walters was transported for medical clearance and booked on his outstanding warrants and new charges.
