Today, in this video, we will be talking about those 2 advisory companies which were very big advisory companies in their time and that are now banned by SEBI and have given a warning to the advisory industry that if you do not work properly, then your market will get exhausted.

Equicom Financial and EPIC Research Pvt LTD : These 2 companies have been working as advisory firms in the industry for many years.

The inspection on EPIC Research Pvt LTD carried out from April 1, 2017 to March 29, 2019.
During the investigation it was found that out of 7 employees only two employees who were providing the investment advice, were having the requisite NISM certifications.

It was also noted by SEBI that the selection of the products for the clients was being done by the person working in the Sales Team and not by the personnel in the Research Team.

Not only this, risk profiling is an important step in which it asks how much risk you can take, but in this case nothing was being asked . Thus, it was a mandatory step for the advisory firms under the Investment Adviser Regulations.
Epic earned unfair money and unreasonable charges and has also levied service charges more than the amounts mentioned in the fee structure from its clients.

Coming on to the other advisory firm
Here comes another advisory firm banned by SEBI is Equicom Financial Research Pvt Ltd.

This case is similar to EPIC Research Pvt LTD. and the inspection on the firm carried out from April 1, 2015 to March 20, 2017.

During the inspection, it was found that Equicom assured huge returns to the clients on the products/packages sold by it, thereby inducing them to buy its investment offerings.
