Venice City Guide | What to Do in Venice When on Vacation

Venice is a beautiful city worth a visit. Foodies would probably be disappointed since Venice is not really famous for its food. Indeed it was really difficult to find something tasty and affordable. For these reasons, I wouldn't recommend a long stay. A short trip would definitely serve the purpose of exploring the city and relaxing on the beach. Yes, there are beaches in Venice. Well, not in Venice directly but on one of the nearby islands.

Our hotel, Ai Cherubini, was fantastic - excellent service, low rates, central location.

We went in September 2020 during the pandemic and it was worth it. Streets, beaches and other tourist attractions were not crowded at all. Public transport was pretty filled up with people and prices are just ridiculous. If you plan to explore the city by vaporetto, you should definitely buy a tourist card available online and at ticket machines for 1, 2, 3 and 7 days. Here is the link:

For example, bought separately, airport transfer (return ticket) would cost you €30. One way vaporetto ticket to get around the city would cost you €7.5. A tourist card for one full day including airport transfers would cost you €32. Definitely worth it!
