The Local Evaluation and Evidence Support (LEES) Effort is a four-year Activity funded by USAID’s Bureau for Planning, Learning, and Resource Management and implemented by LINC, in collaboration with The Cloudburst Group, DevLab@Penn, and Kenyan research organization Infotrak. LEES represents USAID’s commitment to foster evaluation practices that are geared towards strengthening local capabilities in conducting and leveraging evaluations, thereby reinforcing local ownership. LEES’ goal is to provide technical and advisory services to local organizations to enable them to effectively engage in USAID evidence generation, including as a prime contractor.

This brief video captures highlights from the LEES Peer Learning Event held in Lusaka, Zambia on September 23-24, 2024. The event brought together local researchers and evaluators, representatives from USAID and the USAID/Zambia Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Platform, and international implementing partners together with the goal of sharing learning from the LEES training curriculum, providing networking opportunities and promoting community building.

Day 1 of the event included a number of workshops and activities for LEES trainees, and a proposal pitch competition judged by USAID/Zambia and the USAID/Zambia MEL Platform. Day 2 was open to other local research organizations and included workshops and information about community of practice opportunities in Zambia. The event concluded with a Research Organization Fair open to USAID/Zambia and its implementing partners to give them the opportunity to meet the local entities who received LEES training.
