Blue beach island is a small island located in the Nilwella area of Matara. It is a beautiful island in the truest sense of the word, surrounded by the Blue Sea. The island is connected by a small sand dune. So some days this fence is covered with seawater. So be aware before you go. An island is also a great place for camping and snorkeling. It’s a beautiful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, to enjoy life, to enjoy the beauty of the environment that we can not see with our eyes.

It’s not just an island. It is a connected island. An annexed island is an island connected to the mainland by a narrow plot of land. That narrow land is called ‘Tombolo’. In Sri Lanka, there are very few connected islands and this becomes one.

Private Blue Beach Island
Blue Beach Island is not public property; It is private property. The owner has also begun renting space to camp for groups. They have an all-inclusive camp package (only one) at a very reasonable price. They provide all the food and equipment. All you have to do is make a bedsheet (or maybe two in the cold season). There is a fixed price per person and the minimum number of persons should be 8. If you have fewer people, you still have to pay for 8 people. The maximum number of the crowd they accept is 18.

You must first visit the trustee’s (island) home. They are usually asked to arrive between 4 and 5 p.m. You can park your car there. The rest of the journey should be completed on foot. The island is about half a mile or 1 from the trustee’s house. On the way to the island, you will find the Nilwella fishing harbor. After a few minutes, you will enter the gate of the island. Then you can see the tombolo. It’s not a very long one. It is fun to stand on the waves on both sides.

The island is a big one. The camping point is on the other side of the island. The scenery along the way is really beautiful. There is also a large rock platform. One of the most beautiful sights you can see while coming here is watching the sunset. Be sure to wake up early in the morning to see the sunrise. You can climb the rock and wait there.
