For today's video, I've got the most beguiling of garnet sirens, though sadly, she is missing her original material.

Dating to the 4th century BCE, this incredibly detailed earring is an exceptional example of ancient Greek craftsmanship, from her beautiful face and bare-breasted torso to her wings and bird claws. Despite the wealth of details rendered, the focus is not taken off of the three deep red garnet beads adorning the earring, adding a dramatic pop of color that I can't help but think was intended to call to mind the violent mythology associated with sirens.

As with most pieces sold at auction, we have pretty much zero information or context, just a possible date and a beautiful piece of wearable art.
