Frodsham, Cheshire - Frodsham Marshes, The River Weaver & Manchester Ship Canal

Follow me on a run down to Frodsham Marshes, running beside the river Weaver to the point it joins the Manchester Ship Canal. On the far bank we can see Rock Savage power plant and the old ICI chemical works at Weston, Runcorn and as we approach Weston point we can just about see the locks that connect the Manchester Ship Canal to the River Mersey. Some interesting history and a really quiet open are great for a walk or a run.

Starting from Saltworks Farm we head under the M56 and the beside the river weaver and then at Alder lane take a right through to the landing stage on the Manchester Ship canal where to our left we can trace its course back to it's starting point near Ellesmere Port and to the right the point where thr river weaver joins it opposite Weston point. We then head back down Alder to cycle route 5 on Moorditch lane, crossing the motorway and along Marsh Lane to Frodsham main street. We head up the main street then left into Ship Street which we follow back to our starting point
