The history of the Old 100th Psalm Tune can be traced back to the 1500s; however, it has only been connected with the English royal family since 1953 when Ralph Vaughan Williams ‘dished up’ the work for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth the II. Since then, however, it has been sung frequently at grand, state and national occasions.
