a simple way to book tickets through mobile app instead of queuing at the ticket counter. All we need is to register and create account in IRCTC Rail Connect App.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you book train ticket online:
Step 1: Login to IRCTC Rail Connect App.
Step 2: Select "Plan my Journey" option from the dashboard.
Step 3: Enter your source and destination stations under the From-To option, date of journey and preferred class for travel
Step 4: Select the preferred train quota you want.
Types of Train quota - General, Ladies, Tatkal, Lower Berth/Sr.Citizen, Premium Tatkal and Divyanng.
General - General quota is the most common type of quota present in every train. It can be referred to as quota for common man. General Quota has the highest
number of seats allocation in a train. Bookings under general quota opens 120 days in advance meaning its Advance Reservation Period (ARP) is 120 days.
Ladies - Ladies Quota is the one under which only ladies travelling alone or with a child less than 12 years of age are eligible to book.
Tatkal and Premium Tatkal - Tatkal Quota is the most sought after reservation quota for booking tickets. Tatkal quota is meant primarily for the passengers with immediate or urgent travel plans. Premium Tatkal Quota is a reservation quota introduced by Railways with dynamic fare pricing in a limited number of trains on experimental basis.
Lower Berth/Sr.Citizen - Lower Berth quota is for male passengers of age 60 years and above and female passengers of age 45 years and above who can avail the facility to get confirmed lower berth in trains. But more than 2 tickets cannot be booked at a time in this quota.
Divyanng - This quota is for physically challenged persons.
Step 5: Select the Departure date and select "Search Trains" option.
Step 6: In the next page list of all trains will be displayed. Select the train and class you preffered.
Step 7: Next step is to enter the passenger details by selecting passenger details button.
Step 8: Through Add New button enter the passenger details one by one.
Step 9: In the below page select the preference
Consider For Auto Upgradation: This scheme was introduced to get full utilization of the vacant seat in a train. people have booked waiting for a ticket in SL class and 3 seats are available in 3AC class then all 3 passengers will move to 3AC class even they have SL class waiting for a ticket. No, you don’t have to pay any extra charges for this. It’s free of cost service provided by Indian Railways.
Book Only if berth is allocated - Book only if seats are available otherwise don't.
Select the reservation choice as well.
Step 10: Finally enter the destination address and mode of payment and tap "Proceed to pay".
Step 11: After successful payment and booking, the ticket confirmation page is displayed
