Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program (CHNEP) is a partnership working to protect the natural environment in Florida from Venice to Bonita Springs to Winter Haven. Since 2011, the CHNEP has held Environmental Education Workshops for those who work with and are concerned about environmental education to network and learn more about solutions to issues facing the natural environment of southwest Florida. This video is one of the presentations given during the October 23, 2015 workshop.

Florida Water Star: Good for the Environment, Your Community and Your Wallet by Robin Grantham, Senior Communications Coordinator, Southwest Florida Water Management District
When it comes to water efficiency in buildings and developments, Florida Water Star℠ sets the standard. Florida Water Star is a voluntary certification program for new and existing residential homes and commercial developments that meet specific indoor and outdoor water efficiency criteria. Robin will share water conservation options for indoor appliances and fixtures, as well as outdoor practices such as drought-tolerant landscaping and efficient irrigation system design. She will also highlight some of the water-conserving features of Archbold Biological Station’s Adrian Archbold Lodge and Frances A. Hufty Learning Center, both are certified as Florida Water Star commercial buildings. Lastly, Robin will provide annual water and utility bill savings estimates resulting from building to Florida Water Star criteria.
