I know I don't usually post videos on here unless they're AMVs but I feel like this is something that everyone needs to talk about, regardless of whether or not you're a fan of Shinee or even just Kpop in general.

I don't even know where to begin. When I heard about his passing I was just shocked. I just couldn't believe it. I honestly thought it was a hoax, but then the confirmation from SM just solidified the truth for me, and that was that. He's gone.

I actually used to listen to Shinee a lot when I was in middle school, especially since a friend of mine was also a huge fan at the time (I think she still is but I don't really know for sure since we don't really keep in contact anymore) and both of us bonded over them. One of my favourite songs from their first album (or at least one of their first albums) was Jonghyun's solo Hyeya, which is a Korean cover of the Spanish song Y Si Fuera Ella. The stage performance of Hyeya in one of their concert DVDs (which is also in this video) was even better. From the raw emotion seen through his facial expressions, to the stage props with the cuts to a music video and all of the blood, it was just perfect. I quickly fell in love with that performance and, to this day, it's still one of my favourites of all time.

Just hearing about someone suffering from depression all this time without anyone else knowing is just so tragic. I can only imagine how ... lonely it must have felt, how alone he truly was. How helpless he seemed. Music appeared to be his outlet, maybe even his cry for help. It's pretty apparent with several of the songs he had composed (for either himself or other artists). And it's just heartbreaking. We can't deny that there's still some stigma surrounding the discussion of mental health, especially within the entertainment industry, like being depressed, or anxious, etc. isn't real - even though, obviously, it is. Otherwise, this wouldn't have happened.

He may no longer be with us, nor be able to compose and write amazing, inspirational, and encouraging songs, nor perform on stage with his band members, but he'll never be forgotten. He's left that big of an impact on a lot of people out there, and I'm honestly so proud of how far he had made it, though I wish he was able to hold on a little longer.
