Описание к видео Hitler's Nazi Olympics - Berlin 1936 Olympic Games - History

In this video we investigate the notorious 1936 Berlin Olympics. Following Hitler's rise to the position of Fuhrer in Germany, Berlin had agreed and won the right to host the Olympic Games in 1936. Hitler's dictatorship and grip on the German nation was in full swing, as were many of his anti-semitic laws and policies which were aimed at persecuting minorities such as the Jews.

Initially Hitler was disinterested by the thought of hosting the Olympic Games, however he was persuaded by Reich Propaganda Minister, Josef Goebbels that the concept could prove to be a powerful propaganda tool, showing the Nazi cause around the world. During the olympics, the persecution of the Jews was paused, whilst the sporting event took place, in order to show Hitler, Berlin and the Nazi's in a good light. One of the most famous legacies of the 1936 Olympics, was the victories that Jesse Owens had, winning 4 gold medals.

Join us today, as we look at Hitler's Nazi Olympics, the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.
