Today, we had the big joy of taking a slow-motion cyclo tour with three of Australian aunties( they asked me to call them sisters. I say Babby Doll), exploring the magnificant corners of old Saigon.
This charming city, with its unique French colonial buildings, unfolds before us like a living painting—elegant, vibrant, and steeped in history.
As we ride through the streets, we wow at the magnificent buildings, the Indochina era with rich history.
Life here is of a deep sense of humanity, blending the values of the those-days with the bustling energy of a thriving metropolis( I don't rather understand what it means, but it is a buzz word, really).
Green spaces, like gardens, parks, streetsides full of shady trees offer cool rests to the lively streets( I saw a motorbike-taxi man sleeping like a log, right beneath a green tree on the little concrete fence of an office building). The air, carried from the Saigon River, cools the entire city, making our journey all the more pleasant.
Thousands of motorbikes, electric cars, and even tuk-tuk taxis, make just a little single sound of a honking horn( you understand of exaggeration?).
Everyone move with such calmness, offering each other space with quiet respect( sometime, not really). It’s hard not to feel a sense of peace amidst the orderly flow of people and vehicles, creating a rhythm that is uniquely Saigon. Yeah, when you have a cyclo ride tour with me(capitalized me).
As we make our way to one of the city’s lush parks, we watch vibrant scenes of daily life—Scouts practicing and setting up camps, locals playing badminton, jogging, and simply enjoying their day.
And throughout the city on Sunday with nice weather, people eagerly visite historic landmarks, reflecting the deep-rooted love of learning and culture that has been passed down through generations, or maybe at home their air-conditioners are broken down and on the way to be fixed.
We pause our journey to savor one of Saigon’s culinary delights—beef noodle soup, or pho. A steaming bowl filled with tender slices of rare beef, fragrant herbs, and fresh bean sprouts, all brought together with a squeeze of lime juice.
A dash of soy sauce, fresh chili, and a touch of fish sauce elevated the dish to perfection. We couldn’t resist finishing with a glass of strong, rich iced coffee—truly the essence of Saigon in a cup.
Our Australian guests are thrilled with the experience, not just the sights but also the flavors, culture, and warm hospitality that Saigon offers( that is me). They express their growing admiration for Vietnam and, most of all, for the charm and liveliness of this vibrant city.
If any of you would like to join me on the delightful cyclo journey through old Saigon, just let me know in advance.
Let’s explore together, feel the soul of the city, and fall in love with its timeless beauty. Come with me. #travel #vietnamtourism #hochiminhcity #saigontravel #trending
