I finally got to fish on Lake Superior this year! We don't do it often, but when we do, it's a big deal. It's pretty much the highlight of my summer fishing.

The hubs and I bought this boat, our first boat, a couple years ago. When we did, we were very intentional about wanting to get it setup for fishing the big waters. It took a lot of research and dedication, getting the right gear and figuring out how to fish Superior safely.

Getting our boat setup for deep trolling is quite the process and more than half the battle is making sure all the gear is rigged correctly for a day of fishing. Once we're setup and we're trolling at our chosen depth and location, it's just a matter of time and luck before a laker or sometimes even a salmon hits hard. Then it's reeling it in for what seems like forever, making sure the laker stays hooked while it fights and ultimately netting it in for the finale.

Now six trolling rods, several planer boards, dipsy divers, flashers, lures, one kicker motor and -- we're catching some memorable fish and enjoying smoked trout and lox bagels!
