THE WOW FACTOR hit Custom Signs Beachlands Speedway on Saturday night, with the 2nd round of the South Island Saloon Series.
(Timetable of content of video, below)
From Central Otago's Central Motor Speedway to Dunedins Beachlands Speedway, it was jandal to the floor for all the Saloon drivers and crikey, talk abotu some fantastic racing.
With a big crowd, very cool weather it was a full on night of racing with the Saloons and of course other classes that also entertained throughout the night.
With a title up for grabs over the South Island Series, it was balls to the wall and with that also came some big smashos and the good thing, all drivers clambered out, intact with no injurys, absolute tribute the the car builders of today.
A lot of the time, i often have my eye fixed to the likes of Modifieds, Sprintcars, Super Saloons and Super Stocks, but one fellow that i have watched from the likes of Woodford Glen was the young buck, Ashton Osborne .
This lad has a fantastic future, as very young but crikey, he has no fear whatsoever with a wickedly wild swinging Stealth, no fear to run high or low and just has a brilliance about him with what looks to be a very natural driving ability. This could be the equivalent to NZs Shane Van Gisbergen, just a true talent in the making and not only Ashton, on a couple visits to Cromwell last year, it was the other young buck that got my eyes glued to him and that is the 2NZ of George Phillips.
Talk about bloody impressive, very much like Ashton, No Fear, Ride it High, Ride it Low, the Phillips Stealth is always worth keeping an eye on and i was absolutely wrapped to see these two young bucks both at Beachlands, not quite the top position but who cares, where ever they are in the pack, well worth watching as the car in front, in the cross hairs of both young fellows, will certainly have their mirrors full, (even though no mirrors), its like a hunting pair of lions.
Of course many good drivers, but the age of these two Ashton and George, the young guns are a force.
And looking at the "Stealths" also out on track now in his fairly new Saloon is Cromwells Phil Burgess, sporting the #15T.
Certainly well worth watching as season progresses as to how Phil powers this Burgess Stealth around the track. Another great supporter of many tracks.
If you have never been to Beachlands Speedway, well i would say get there, check their website, find a meeting and i know you will be in for one hell of a night. Very nice, relaxed atmosphere, good ol southern hospitality and some dam good racing.
Kick back, crank up the volume and get your backside screenside, its showtime, from Beachlands with my amateur footage.
