Brian Burke MD, MPH, from the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Dayton, OH, reviews his article appearing in the August 2024 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, where he reviews VA/DOD Clinical Practice Guidelines for Type 2 diabetes. Dr. Burke notes the evidence synthesis served as the basis for drafting twenty-six recommendations that were generated and rated using the GRADE system and two algorithms that were developed to guide clinical decision-making. Dr Burke highlights some of the more interesting recommendations and he notes there remains a need for patient education in managing their condition.
