Today we’re excited to celebrate National Milk Day by introducing you to popular cow breeds.

Here they are:

👉Holstein: The most common breed in Florida, Holsteins are easily recognizable with their iconic black and white markings. They’re highly regarded for their high milk production, with, when mature, weight around 1,500 pounds.

👉Milking Shorthorn: Originating in England, Milking Shorthorns come in various colors, including red, red and white, or roan. They’re known for their versatility, adaptability, and high fertility, with an average weight of nearly 1,250 pounds.

👉Ayrshire: Ayrshires are robust cows with distinctive red and white markings. They produce large quantities of high-quality milk and have exceptional foraging skills. Ayrshires have a mature weight of approximately 1,200 pounds.

👉Brown Swiss: The oldest of the pure dairy breeds, Brown Swiss cows have a solid brown color and a velvet-like coat. They’re known for their strong legs, milking persistency, and ability to adapt quickly to different environments.

👉Guernsey: Guernseys have fawn-colored coats with distinct white markings. They’re admired for their golden yellow pigmentation, size, and strength. With a mature weight of around 1,100 pounds, they’re known for their gentle nature and impressive milk production.

👉Jersey: Jerseys captivate with their beautiful shades of fawn or cream coats and black muzzles. Despite their small body size, they mature quickly and produce the highest level of milkfat among dairy animals. This makes them a popular choice for cheese and ice cream makers.
