Did you know there are monsters and magical creatures hidden all over Newbiggin-by-the-Sea in Northumberland?

Voice of the Creative is an Action for Children artist residency project in Central Northumberland.

Unfolding Theatre have been commissioned to co-create a set of stories with 127 local children and families to fuel ideas for a story trail in Newbiggin by the Sea.

There are five stories in total and they are asking for your ideas and art work to help bring the trail to life.

Can you listen to the story and tell us what you think? Could you help us think about the monsters dancing in a line on the wall? Draw a picture or write a description of all the monsters dancing. Your ideas will help Unfolding Theatre develop the final story draft which will become part of an audio family story trail around Newbiggin-by-the-Sea this summer.

The children began this project by reading Not Not Bernard by David McKee, the classic story where Bernard finds a monster in his garden, but his mum and dad are far too busy to notice! Not Now Bernard celebrates 40 years in 2020.

The children who helped create these stories came from Action for Children's central Northumberland groups & Bishop's Primary School in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. They worked with writer, Luca Rutherford and director, Annie Rigby.
