Be Thou My Vision-Story behind the Hymn

"Be Thou My Vision" is a traditional Christian hymn of Irish origin. The words are based on a Middle Irish poem often attributed to the Irish Christian poet St. Dallán Forgaill. The hymn is based upon the heroic act by a great missionary of the past, St. Patrick. But over the years, the poem which had been composed in honour of St. Patrick had lost its significance in the pages of the world. But, in the end, the wonderful words had to finally come out in the open to be a vision for many.
