Thyroid neoplasms can be benign (adenomas) or malignant (carcinomas), affecting thyroid function and structure.

Thyroid Adenomas
Follicular Adenomas – Benign tumors derived from thyroid follicular cells.

Hurthle Cell Adenomas – Contain abundant mitochondria, sometimes mistaken for cancer.

Non-functional vs. Functional – Some adenomas produce thyroid hormones, leading to hyperthyroidism.

Thyroid Carcinomas
Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma (PTC) – Most common, often linked to radiation exposure.

Follicular Thyroid Carcinoma (FTC) – More aggressive than PTC, spreads via bloodstream.

Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC) – Arises from C cells, associated with MEN syndromes.

Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma (ATC) – Rare but highly aggressive, with poor prognosis.

Diagnosis involves ultrasound, fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB), and molecular testing. Treatment depends on the type and stage, including surgery, radioactive iodine therapy, and targeted therapies.
