MXR Super Badass Variac Fuzz - First Impressions [Quick Demo]

Описание к видео MXR Super Badass Variac Fuzz - First Impressions [Quick Demo]

Just picked up this MXR Super Badass Variac Fuzz and here's my first minute and change with it. The Variac feature simulates running the pedal anywhere from 5v to 15v so you can get battery sag and battery beyond full. The Variac was something Eddie Van Halen used on his Marshall's in the early days of Van Halen. To my knowledge, Eddie never used a fuzz pedal. Battery sag has always been a big benefit when it comes to prime fuzz tones. Eric Johnson was the first player I can recall that was measuring his 9v battery output to get the best tone from his old Fuzz Face. This is a pedal that was on Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante's pedal board on the recent tour so I wanted to check it out and see if there was any magic.

This is merely a first impressions video - a more detailed demo to follow.

This demo was made with a 1997 Fender Voodoo Strat loaded with Seymour Duncan Texas Hot Antiquities, 9-46 Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky's plugged into a Marshall DSL15C. Nothing special mic wise, just an iPhone 12 Pro on a tripod. Sorry for loud picking sounds, I play hard.
