This is footage of the Buk-M2E air defense system destroyed by U.S. forces at Higuerote Airport in northern Venezuela. The Buk-M2E is one of Venezuela’s most advanced Russian-supplied air defense systems, capable of targeting aircraft, cruise missiles, and drones at ranges up to 45 km and altitudes up to 25 km. It features radar-guided missiles designed to protect critical infrastructure and military sites. The strike was part of U.S. operations to neutralize Venezuelan air defenses, allowing safe insertion of special forces during Operation Absolute Resolve.

Analysis:

The U.S. targeted Higuerote Airport to dismantle Venezuela’s air defense and clear the path for 160th SOAR helicopter insertions.

The Buk-M2E system, along with aircraft and airport facilities, was destroyed, showing the precision of U.S. strikes.

These strikes weakened Venezuelan capabilities, limiting the effectiveness of Russian-supplied air defenses in northern Caracas.

No U.S. personnel were lost, and the operation ensured the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife from Caracas.
