The gray and wintery Melbourne morning on the 6th of July could be just like any other day to many, but to local Pokémon fans it was one of great excitement. On that day, Nintendo Australia hosted a Pokémon Meetup at Federation Square where they would hold a battle competition. Up for grabs was the opportunity to battle in Australia's very first Pokémon VGC National Championships at the sold-out PAX Australia 2013.

With over 100 Pokémon trainers entered, the competition was fierce and many a great match was played out, including the one you see above.
