Pandit Omkarnath Thakur - The Story of an Icon | Full Documentary

Pt. Omkarnath Thakur (24 June 1897 – 29 December 1967) was an influential Indian educator, musicologist, and Hindustani classical singer. He is famously known as "Pranav Rang", his pen-name. A disciple of classical singer Vishnu Digambar Paluskar of Gwalior gharana, he became the principal of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Lahore, and later went on become the first dean of the music faculty at Banaras Hindu University.

During her Dissertation on Pandit Omkarnath Thakur (for her Master in Vocal Music, May 2017), Shilpa Shah, found out the startling fact that no documentary has ever been made on the legendary musician... She conceived the idea to make one.

Inspired by the great musical heritage of Pandit Omkarnath Thakur, Dr Archana Dixit and her student , Shilpa Shah embarked on a journey from Surat to Banaras, to rediscover the story of the prodigal musician.
