In this video I will show you how to identify what kind of ignition your furnace or boiler uses to light. If you are troubleshooting your system it is important to know what kind of igniter it is using to know what it should (or should not) be doing.

There are (in my experience) only four main types of igniters.

-Standing Pilot
-Intermittent Pilot
-Direct Spark Ignition
-Hot Surface ignition

Your furnace or boiler's ignition system will likely fall into one of these three categories.
