The DCEU is notorious for having its fair share of ups and downs, particularly with its wide slate of movies that have underperformed at the box office or failed to impress critics and general audiences. This has been a recurring problem since the Batman v Superman and Man of Steel days, where Zack Snyder’s take on the DC Universe and Justice League characters was controversial, to say the least. A multitude of popular characters have been given the spotlight in the DCEU’s history, such as Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam, Black Adam, Supergirl, the Suicide Squad, and many others. Black Adam and The Flash were among the last big attempts to revive the universe before James Gunn’s DCU reboot plans. Both movies bring back actors like Henry Cavill as Superman or Michael Keaton as Batman.
