Music is a tremendous force that can galvanize energies and drive humans to greater heights of existence.
It is for this reason that Golden Dreams Co. LTD, the production house that brought you popular shows like Beba Beba, Primetime, How to be Rich, Cobra Squad and the Passion Magazine is proud to introduce the first annual East Africa Music Awards (EMAs).
While it is argued that there is not a single award ceremony in the region that recognizes all genres of music, the EMAs seek to reward homegrown talent in an all wide variety event.
The awards will recognize music from different genres: Rhumba, Contemporary Gospel, Hip Hop, Taarab among many others.

The ceremony is hailed to be the first competitive and all inclusive music awards show, encompassing the entire East African region: KENYA, UGANDA, TANZANIA, RWANDA, BURUNDI, ETHIOPIA, and SUDAN AND THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO.

The EMAs will be a four hour event, televised live on August 20th, 2011 in a minimum of six television stations and repeated several times in all eight countries.


In an attempt to lend credibility to the awards, Golden Dreams has been working with music producers and stakeholders in the industry to develop a judging criteria for all awards. This criteria will spell out the process in which a song will win a nomination and an award.


This process will ensure that all countries are represented in the judging panel and that most judges are experts in the industry. For more information on this process, please visit the JUDGING CRITERIA page.
