This video will show you how to obtain a 1,000 hit combo (and also unlock the "That's More Like It" achievement), no matter what your level is (note: I'm above level 50 and still got it here). You start out in the Sorrowing Meadow, right at the beginning. Make sure you un-equip everything if you are a higher level character, and put on the "Ugly Pendant".

Then, just have at it. Just make sure you watch Dust, as if he gets too red, he will lose the combo (as shown in the video). You can take a small break between your hits and not lose your combo, so keep that in mind while going for this.
