Once again, Gen-Z are on the streets, protesting, and there are even reports of arson.
The images are from Leh, Ladakh, where protests turned violent. Clashes between students and police set a BJP office and a CRPF vehicle on fire.
The question is, why are Gen-Z protesting here? The issue is related to the demand for full statehood for Ladakh and inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. Tensions escalated after two protesters fell ill during a 15-day hunger strike led by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, leading to these violent incidents. The central government has intensified talks with Ladakhi leaders to defuse the situation and has scheduled the next meeting in New Delhi on October 6. However, the protesters remain adamant on demanding an immediate solution, leading to a complete shutdown in Kargil on Thursday.

सवाल ये है कि यहां Gen-Z प्रदर्शन कर क्यों रहे हैं? दरअसल, मामला लद्दाख को पूर्ण राज्य का दर्जा और संविधान की छठी अनुसूची में शामिल करने की मांग से जुड़ा है। जलवायु कार्यकर्ता सोनम वांगचुक के नेतृत्व में 15 दिनों से चल रही भूख हड़ताल के दौरान दो प्रदर्शनकारियों की तबीयत बिगड़ने से तनाव चरम पर पहुंच गया, जिसके बाद ये हिंसक घटनाएं हुईं। केंद्र सरकार ने स्थिति को शांत करने के लिए लद्दाख के नेताओं के साथ बातचीत तेज कर दी है और 6 अक्टूबर को नई दिल्ली में अगली बैठक तय की है। लेकिन प्रदर्शनकारी तत्काल समाधान की मांग पर अड़े हैं, जिससे कारगिल में गुरुवार को पूर्ण बंद का ऐलान हो चुका है।
