South Sudan's Vice president Riek Machar has pledged to combat sexual violence and all other forms of abuses in the country. Machar said the government would embark on awareness raising programs with members of various security institutions. The Vice president spoke during a meeting with United Nations special envoy on sexual violence Zainab Bangura. Bangura called on the South Sudanese government to put in place mechanisms to deter incidents of rape, kidnappings and other forms of abuse . She flew to Juba to highlight the need to end sexual violence.
