Churches, Cemeteries and OPRAH!?! Mississippi Backroads! (7-42)

Описание к видео Churches, Cemeteries and OPRAH!?! Mississippi Backroads! (7-42)

Today, we travelled some of the backroads of Mississippi in search of familial cemeteries and churches. We get lots of cotton and kudzu along the way.

Our first stop was Mississippi's abandoned Bluff Springs Methodist Church from 1845. Hard to know if this was the original building but it was definitely old and in great shape. Across the road, the cemetery with several of Carol's ancestors.

We then drove on to the New Salem Cemetery for more relatives although I cut the video to show mostly the artwork and some of the oldest graves we've seen in the south!

Then we drove through Kosciusko, MS, home of blues legend Charlie Musslewhite and the birthplace of Oprah Winfrey!

We end at one of our favorite campgrounds in the south, Marathon Lake. This is a National Forest Service campground and rarely are there others here when we visit in the fall. A wonderful and beautiful lake where Trigger often gets to swim--no alligators--but not this time too many people for a dog who barks too much!

Great things to do in Mississippi!
