If you read the books you know that it's described as a wooden building with a large parlour, with a roaring fire, lots of corners for privacy, and rooms for guests to sleep in. So now check out this old house on the edge of Windermere, in the Lake District of England. Blackwell is a fine example of an arts and crafts house built at the start of the 20th century for (fittingly) a wealthy brewery owner. The arts and crafts movement was started as an objection to the automation and mass production that was taking part at the time. Each item in the house, from the furniture to the tiles to the wallpaper, was hand made by master artists and craftsmen. A 20th century precursor to the AI debate....
